What is the quickest way to obtain a quote?
The quickest way is to submit an online form found on our Online Quotes page. We will send you both a verbal and written quote within 24 hours. You can also email sales@hannanremovals.com with an inventory of your items you wish to transport.For further assistance and follow up - Freecall 1800 671 134.
How are my goods transported?
All goods are transported on the National Rail network, in our containers. Our high cube shipping containers are 6.1 metres long, 2.4 metres wide and 2.9 metres high. The cubic metre capacity of the container is approximately 38.0 cubic metres.
How long will it take for my goods to arrive?
For less than a container load of goods we allow approximately 10 working days from the date of uplift to the date of delivery. For full container loads uplifted and delivered in the metropolitan areas nationally there is a shorter travel time. Our sales team will assist you with direct delivery dates.
Do I need insurance and how do I arrange this?
Hannan Removals takes every possible precaution and care with your goods during transit. But unforeseen events and accidents can occur. For peace of mind, we offer the Hannan’s Guarantee to repair, replace or compensate you up to the Replacement Value Agreed (RVA) for goods lost, damaged or destroyed as set out in our Carriage Terms and Conditions. A very competitive fee is offered for this peace of mind. However, you may also wish to obtain extra insurance during transit or storage. To find our more please speak to one of our sales team.
How do I book my removal?
All bookings are processed through our head office. Simply call our Toll Free number, 1800 671 134, and speak to our sales team. Please have your quote number ready. You will not need to pay a deposit when you book. We need one weeks notice before the uplift of your removal. At the time of your booking you will need to provide the following:
- Name, address, contact numbers for both the pick up and delivery
- Access details for both pick up and delivery (ie; stairs; narrow street; parking;)
- Date of pick up and expected delivery
- Whether you require storage
- Whether you require cartons supplied
- Whether you require a full pack, fragile/breakables only pack
- Payment details
- Other relevant instructions.
How do I pay for my Removal?
Private removals must be paid for before or on the date of uplift by one of the following methods:
- Bank cheque or money order on date of pick up
- Direct deposit into our bank account at least 2 days prior to uplift. Removal cannot proceed if payment does not clear into our account
- Credit card – (Please note a 1.5% credit card fee for Visa or Mastercard or 3.5% fee for Amex and Diners, plus a $2.50 administration fee applies)
What are the available box sizes? How do I work out how many boxes I need?
For the sizes of boxes and packaging we have available, please click here. By using the sizes available, estimate as closely as you can how many boxes per room you will require. Do not worry if you have calculated incorrectly, as it gets closer to your removal date you will have a better idea of the cartons you have used or need – accordingly your quoted price will be adjusted.
Below is a guide for estimating the amount of boxes:
- 2 bedroom house approximately 40 standard cartons
- 3 bedroom house approximately 50 – 70 standard cartons
- 4 bedroom house approximately 80 – 100 standard cartons
Knowing exactly how many cartons you will require can be difficult.

What do I need do before the removal team arrives?
- A few days prior to your uplift date, please confirm your final inventory. If anything at all has changed from your original assessment we need to know to ensure operations go to plan on the day, the final price is still correct and, if needed, to update the Hannan’s Guarantee.
- Defrost refrigerator at least the day before and wipe out to ensure no seepage of water. Shelving can remain in fridge (except glass shelving-these should be packed separately). On delivery please do not switch your refrigerator on for a least 1 hour to allow the gas to settle.
- Dismantle any furniture desks, beds, bookcases, tables, cabinets unless otherwise pre-arranged with our sales team.
- When packing your own cartons please ensure:
- Weight is evenly distributed and they are not too heavy
- Dry foods are unopened
- Open food must be disposed of
- Alcohol must be unopened and be contained in appropriate wine cartons
- All breakables such as glass or china is amply wrapped and packed upright with layers of crush or padding to avoid breakages
Can I transport Plants?
Plants can be transported, but there are certain quarantine laws and the appropriate certificate needs to be obtained prior to pick up. To find out more contact the Department of Primary Industries in the delivery state or ask our sales staff for assistance. Plant watering should be done at least 2 days prior to date of uplift to avoid leakage.
Can I transport gas bottles?
All gas bottles must be transported empty. Bottles must be purged (emptied) at your local petrol station and a certificate obtained to confirm that the bottle is empty.
Can I leave items in drawers and cupboards?
Most drawers and cupboards should be emptied apart from soft furnishings such as pillows, cushions, or quilts. Breakables and heavy items must be removed to avoid breakages.
Can I transport guns?
Registered firearms can be transported with the bolt action removed. We do not transport any ammunition.
What items are not allowed to be transported?
Hannan Removals does not allow transportation of the following items:
- Radioactive material
- Explosives such as ammunition, flares, fireworks
- Flammable gases and liquids such as oxygen, lpg, paint, petrol, kerosene, oil, turpentine, mentholated spirits and oil.
- Poisonous and toxic substances such as pesticides, weed killers, arsenic.
Can I put items into the vehicle that is being transported?
Please ensure all items are removed from the vehicle. For security and insurance purposes no items are allowed to be packed inside the car or the boot. Please note: Insurance for transit of the vehicle is the customer's responsibility and the Hannan’s Gurantee is not available for vehicles, including motor bikes.
